Apprentices will be alocated a Trainer Assessor who will support them throughout the time on programme.

20% of the time on programme should be spent focussing on off the job training.

The practical period will be spent covering all knowledge, skills and behaviours that are essential in order to fullfil the role of a lead practitioner.

After 24 months on programme you will enter a 6 month gateway period where the apprentice will complete three assessment methods including an observation with questions, a professional discussion underpinned by a portfolio, a case study with a report and a presentation with questioning.

Entry Requirements

A level 3 Early Years qualification is not essential but an advantage.

Undertake the Disclosure and Barring Service process and provide the result.

GCSE English and Maths at grade 3/C or above is desirable. Applicants must score level 3 or above at their iniitial assessment.

Applicants without level 2 English and Maths will need to achieve this level prior to taking the End-Point Assessment.

English at grades C/4 or above must be achieved to be counted in ratios.

For those with an education, health and care plan or a legacy statement, the apprenticeship’s English and Maths minimum requirement is Entry Level 3. A British Sign Language (BSL) qualification is an alternative to the English qualification for those whose primary language is BSL.
