Twenty undergraduate Sports students gained exclusive hands-on experience at the second biggest football club in England, the prestigious Liverpool FC Academy.
Over three weeks, degree level students studying for their Higher National Certificate and Diploma (HNC/D) actively coached and officiated at a series of youth tournaments in an exciting opportunity provided by the Higher Education Academy of Sport.
Students supported event logistics, led engaging warm-up activities, and officiated matches involving more than schools across Merseyside.
Higher Education Curriculum Manager, Mat Hobday shared: “These experiences really enrich the student experience, and provide our learners with valuable skills for their futures. In addition, being able to get experience with Liverpool FC, one of the biggest clubs in the world is fantastic.”
Their impressive performances led to invitations for more regular involvement in the club, including officiating the highly anticipated foundation phase game between Liverpool and Manchester United. Other students have been offered further involvement with the club over the upcoming weeks.
“Opportunities like these provide learners with invaluable, real-world experience that enhances their employability skills.” said Ryan Gorst, Higher Education Academy of Sport Programme Manager.
This experience forms part of Loughborough College’s commitment to enriching student employability through real-world learning with renowned organisations.
