Social Care Superstar! Student Lily Heads to World Skills Competition Final

Posted: 31st July 2024 - 4:26pm

Congratulations are in order for Level 3 Health and Social Care student Lily, who flew through last month’s qualifiers to secure her place at the WorldSkills National Finals, to be held in Manchester this November.

As one of the ten talented students who represented Loughborough College at the National Qualifiers in Jue, Lily stood out from the competition to earn her place in the national finals, where she’ll face off against seven other practitioners from across the UK.

Curriculum Manager for Caring Services at Loughborough College, Sharon Geary-Neal expressed her joy, sharing, “Lily’s exceptional skills and dedication have shoe through, demonstrating her knowledge, empathy, communication, awareness and overall abilities.

“This is just the beginning of Lily’s journey and we have no doubt her future in health and social care will be incredibly bright. Best wishes, Lily! We are all extremely proud of you!”

The WorldSkills UK competition showcases the values, behaviours, and attitudes required to work in health and social care. Competitors must demonstrate key skills in compassion, dignity and respect, as well as problem solving skills, innovation, creativity, flexibility, and assessing need.

Lily follows in the footsteps of Bethany, Level 3 Health and Social Care student who made it to last year’s finals in Wigan.
