Following an outstanding nomination, our talented Hospitality and Catering student team has secured a place in the final 8 of the UK Young Restaurant Team of the Year 2025.
Out of over 50 initial entries, our team of budding culinary stars – Tom Brassington, Cam McGinty, and Will Harding – has risen to the top, showcasing their skills and creativity through an exciting three-course fine dining experience, which served as their entry.
The semi-final, set to take place in March at the exclusive Lainston House in Winchester, sets the stage for what promises to be an exciting and competitive event.
Loughborough College has a proud history in the UK Young Restaurant Team of the Year competition, with previous students not only reaching the finals but also taking home the top prize in past years. Last year, learners Eddie, Jess, and Libby brought back two trophies to the Radmoor Restaurant for sustainability and service.
The theme for this year’s competition is ‘British ingredients in a modern style’, a concept that the team hopes will inspire and create innovative and mouthwatering dishes. Curriculum Manager for Hospitality and Catering at Loughborough College, Darren Creed said: “The team have been hard at work already.
“To refine our dishes, we will be hosting practice sessions and inviting guests to sample our three-course lunch. This will not only help the team fine-tune their menu but also offer a sneak peek into the exciting flavours that will be presented at the semi-final.”
“We’re absolutely over the moon,” added team member and Catering student Cam. “We can’t wait to showcase what we’ve been working on. This is a huge opportunity, and we’re ready to give it everything we’ve got.”
The announcement comes hot on the heels of more exciting news that the College has also advanced to the Zest Quest Asia finals. Last year’s team also reached the competition’s final stage, creating a delicious and inspiring four-course meal inspired by Asian cuisine.
