If you aspire to provide massage and advanced electrotherapy treatment and have already completed a beauty-related Level 2 qualification, this course is for you.

This Beauty therapy course will provide you with a range of specialist practical skills and technical knowledge, equipping you to seek employment or further training within the beauty sector. You will carry out practical treatments in the college salons, the local community and will have the opportunity to act as salon manager & carry out work experience.

These said employers deliver units on the programme to reinforce industry expectations and standards as well as offering work experience
  • Opportunity to take part in competitions & volunteer in the local community at a residential home, the council and Falcon Centre
  • Have the ability to go on trips and visits to spas, wholesalers and Beauty shows
  • Take part in our popular Health spa days working with other areas of the department

Course Content

You will carry out practical treatments in the College's salon and brand-new spa, working and having the opportunity to act as salon manager. The course will cover:

  • Theory and practical
  • Health and safety
  • Promote and sell products
  • Body massage
  • Facial electrotherapy
  • Indian head massage
  • Hot Stone massage

To gain this qualification, you must successfully achieve the following assessments:

  • online externally assessed unit exams
  • practical assessments

A kit and uniform is required to work in the salon. A bursary is available for kit and uniform requirements, subject to eligibility. Find out more: Student Services

Entry Requirements

A Level 2 Diploma in Beauty Therapy, plus GCSE (or Functional Skills) English and Maths at grade C/4 (or Level 2). All candidates must be aged 19 or older before the start of the programme

Courses will run subject to sufficient numbers. Places will be allocated on a first come first serve basis.

STUDY MODE / DURATION
Classes will be on a Tuesday 9.00am-4.00pm. The course runs up to 34 weeks.

Progression

Upon successful completion of this course, you could choose to progress on to a Level 4 programme of study or enter into employment in the beauty industry as a beauty therapist, technical representative, or spa/salon manager.

We work with local employers, including Ragdale Hall, Steiner, Hoar Cross Hall, and many other salons, who will contribute to the knowledge and delivery of your training.

Employers will provide demonstrations, talks on the industry, and, where possible, work placements. This practical training is ideal preparation for gaining employment in the beauty or spa therapy industries or specialist further study.
