Six talented students from across our Travel and Tourism programme have earnt coveted spots in the elite year-long Customer Cadet programme at East Midlands Airport.

Learners Katie Challands, Emma Frearson, Imogen Ratcliffe-Buckley, Lacey-Leigh Pearce, Lucy Triggs, and Imogen Weaver were handpicked from a pool of top-tier candidates for this exclusive opportunity to develop their aviation and travel management skills in a real-world situation.

Student Emma shared, “We’re all so excited to be a part of this programme, and get the sort of hands-on experience that will benefit us in our future careers. I’m so grateful to College for encouraging us, telling us about this opportunity, and supporting us as we grow our skills.”

Learner Lucy agreed, adding, “It’s just so exciting. When we first heard about the scheme, I knew I wanted to apply, and I can’t wait to get started.”

Throughout the duration of the programme, these learners will explore the various facets of airport operations, including customer service, security, and Assisted Travel. From shadowing industry professionals to immersing themselves in real-life scenarios, students will gain invaluable insights and experience, setting the stage for their future success.

The Customer Cadet programme was first introduced to learners through an engaging visit from East Midlands Airport team members earlier this year. The scheme offers a range of benefits for its participants, including complete Airport training, experience working with and learning from travel and tourism professionals, and the chance to explore a wide range of career development opportunities.

Lecturer Paul Mann-Kler said, “This is a fantastic chance for our students to develop their skills and confidence in a professional setting. Their selection is proof not only of their academic excellence, but also their passion and potential to excel. We are so proud!”

Congratulations to all six of our students undertaking this exciting new challenge!
