Following a great year of achievement across College, staff gathered last week to celebrate the winners of the 2024 RISE Awards, shining a spotlight on the teams and individuals who have gone above and beyond this year.
Hosted by Dean of Higher Education, Chris Cockerton, awards were presented by members of the Executive Team and each represented a category of Respectful, Innovative, Successful, and Empowerment, with an individual and team winner for each category.
Following a reception of drinks, and delicious canapes from the Radmoor Restaurant, Chris introduced the awards, sharing with the audience, “These awards are so important to us as a College, as it allows us to take the time to celebrate all the incredible work that goes on.
“We had a fantastic 169 entries across all the categories, and each one was a pleasure for the judges to read. A huge thank you to everyone who put forward a nomination.”
Staff from all walks of College life were recognised for the awards, with nominees and winners spanning Estates, Business Support, Curriculum, and Accommodation teams.
A final Special Award was also handed out to Curriculum Manager for Sport and Esport Danny Lee, and Elite Sport Manager, Dan Jackson on behalf of the College’s Sports Academies. Announcing the winners and reflecting on their achievements, Principal and CEO Corrie Harris shared, “The Sport Academies have demonstrated exceptional success and dedication, solidifying their status as a premier institution for sports education in the UK…These accomplishments highlight their diverse talents and relentless pursuit for excellence, making them deserving recipients of this award.”
After a joyful ceremony full of pride and celebration, outgoing Chair of Governors Stuart Lindeman closed the event by reflecting, “We have been privileged to hear inspiring stories of dedication, passion, and transformative impact. It’s a profound testament to your dedication that you’re shaping the future and opening doors for our learners in such meaningful ways.
“On behalf of the governors, Leadership Team, and our students, I extend our deepest gratitude, your efforts are invaluable, and your impact resonates far beyond these walls.”
