Students and local coaches

The College’s Sports department recently welcomed FA Coach Developers for an engaging and insightful Coach Development workshop, delivered in collaboration with Loughborough Foxes and Loughborough College students.

Funded by the Association of Colleges (AoC) Sport and English Colleges Football Association (ECFA) Experiential Learning Fund, with support from Leicestershire FA, the free session was designed to enhance coaching standards in the Charnwood area and provide grassroots coaches with a valuable opportunity to develop their skills.

The session focused on game-based coaching practices, offering practical guidance on how to design and deliver effective and efficient training sessions for players at all levels.

Sports Coach at Loughborough College Joe Jowett, who was at the event, shared: “It was fantastic to host and support local coaches in their development. These workshops play a crucial role in improving the quality of coaching in our community, ensuring that players receive the best possible training.

“It was also a great opportunity for our students to make connections across the community, support grassroots sports, and develop their own coaching and skill-sharing abilities.”

The event underscored Loughborough College’s commitment to developing coaching talent and fostering a thriving football community. Earlier this year, the College was presented with a prestigious Three-Star plaque from the AoC, recognising the commitment to promoting excellence in sport. This award placed the College as one of just four institutions across the UK to receive the top-tier certification.
