Level 3 Health and Social Care student Lily Peberdy is gearing up for the final stage of the WorldSkills UK competition, set to take place in Manchester tomorrow.
After excelling in earlier rounds, where she demonstrated critical abilities in person-centred care, communication, and problem-solving, Lily was named as a finalist in July and has spent the last few months preparing for the competition, which will see her face off against competitors from across the UK.
The WorldSkills competition provides a platform for young talents to refine their technical and employability skills while aiming for national recognition. Amongst the competitions are vocational techniques including plumbing, hairdressing and electrical installation.
Sharon Geary-Neal, Curriculum Manager for Caring Services at Loughborough College, praised Lily's achievements, sharing: “This is an incredible opportunity for Lily to showcase her talent and hard work on a national stage. Lily has showcased remarkable skill and dedication throughout her journey to the national final, which will be fantastic for her development.”
As Lily prepares for the final, she is hoping to follow in the footsteps of College student Bethany Hands, who made it to the 2023 finals in Wigan.
