Earlier this month, a group of Year 12 and 13 Religious Studies A Level students embarked on an enlightening trip to Bishop Grosseteste University in Lincoln.
The visit provided students with an exciting opportunity to experience university life, beginning with a thought-provoking lecture on metaethics. The session delved into moral philosophy, stretching students' understanding and inspiring them for their next steps after college. Following the lecture, students participated in a lively Q&A session, where they showcased their ability to engage with philosophical ideas.
The students were also given a guided tour of the university's campus, accompanied by student ambassadors who shared their experiences of studying at Bishop Grosseteste University. These discussions offered valuable insights into the diverse range of higher education options available and sparked conversations about their future goals.
The day was rounded off with a fascinating visit to the university’s historic chapel, constructed in 1842. The chapel’s unique stained-glass windows, which predominantly feature female figures, provided a fascinating link to the university’s history as a teacher training college for women.
Curriculum Manager for Religious Studies at Loughborough College, Juliet Killey shared her pride in the students, stating: “The metaethics lecture offered our students a super learning experience, broadening their knowledge and complimenting their studies.
“The Q&A session encouraged them to step outside their comfort zones and engage deeply with the subject matter. They did so with great maturity and enthusiasm, and it was wonderful to see their confidence grow throughout the day.”
