Friday 7th February 2025
Level 3 Travel and Aviation and Hospitality and Catering students at Loughborough College have successfully raised over £500 for UK-based charity Over the Wall through their spectacular "A Night in Italia" fundraiser, held last week at the Radmoor Restaurant.
The students meticulously planned and organised every aspect of the event, working in collaboration across the Travel and Hospitality departments to deliver an unforgettable experience for their guests.
The chosen charity, Over the Wall is a national charity that provides residential summer camps for children and their families coping with serious illness and conditions. The charity was selected due to a personal connection within the group. One student, who had previously benefited from the charity’s support, shared his heartfelt experience during the event, expressing how the organisation had provided him with a life-changing opportunity.
The evening began as guests “took to the skies” as they were welcomed on board the College’s air cabin simulator, where they enjoyed pre-departure drinks and snacks. They also received a safety demonstration from Travel learners before making their way to the Radmoor Restaurant where they were treated to a delicious three-course Italian meal, crafted and served with the help of the College’s Hospitality and Catering students.
Darren Creed, Curriculum Manager for Hospitality and Catering and Travel and Aviation praised the students, sharing: “The event was a resounding success, and we are so proud of our students and their hard work and dedication. Their efforts not only raised vital funds for an incredible cause, but also showcased their skills in event planning, customer service, and hospitality management.”
