Rainbows, Loughborough’s Children and Young Person’s Hospice, Needs Your Help this Christmas

Posted: 24th November 2022 - 5:04pm

As the festive season starts, you could help raise vital funds for a local children’s hospice and have a lot of fun at the same time.

Rainbows, the charity caring for terminally ill youngsters, is looking for volunteers to help as stewards and marshals for the Rainbows’ Loughborough Santa Fun Run.

“College students have helped make this event a great success in the past, and Rainbows are in desperate need of extra volunteers to help stage this year’s Fun Run,” said Loughborough College Lecturer Jesse Jackson.

“Volunteering can be a lot of fun. This year we need people to hand out medals and marshals along the course to direct the runners and cheer them on when they look tired!”

The event is on Sunday 4th December at 11.00am and volunteers will be needed from 9.30am.

This year every registered runner will receive a free Santa suit to wear for the 5k run through the town.

“It will be such fun to see the streets of Loughborough packed with Santas jogging to raise money for this special cause,” said Jesse. “This year the event has also opened registration for dogs  – so expect to see lots of furry cute ‘Santa Paws’ running as well”:

So why not grab a group of friends and sign up to help Rainbows bring a little happiness into these children’s lives at this special time of year?

Volunteers should contact Claire at 01509 283 933 or email her at claire.hoggan@rainbows.co.uk before Friday, 25th November, to sign up and receive the briefing and info pack.

If anyone wants to take part in the Santa Run, registration is still open, and details are here https://www.rainbows.co.uk/fundraise/events/loughboroughsanta
