Radmoor Restaurant Team Earn Spot in Coveted National Competition Final

Will, Cam, and Tom with staff from UK Young Restaurant Team of the Year

Three students from the College’s Radmoor Restaurant have secured their place in the prestigious UK Young Restaurant Team of the Year competition, following an exciting semi-final round this week.

Held at Lainston House in Winchester, Loughborough College students Tom Brassington, Will Harding, and Cameron McGinty wowed the judging panel, earning their place in the national finals to be hosted in June at the Skills for Chefs Conference.

With an inspiring gastronomic trip to San Sebastián awaiting this year’s winners, the stakes couldn’t be higher for the Radmoor Restaurant team, who balance the roles of two chefs, and a front of house host.

Tom, Will, and Cameron developed their three-course meal for the semi-final with the support of staff from the Radmoor Restaurant, preparing and serving a delicious menu of dishes, including cured chalk stream trout, smoked chicken wings, 12-hour ember cooked beef brisket, and rhubarb crumble with custard.

Curriculum Manager for Hospitality and Catering at Loughborough College, Darren Creed has been supporting the students throughout the competition and shared his words of support, stating: “I am so pleased for the team! Reaching this prestigious final is a fantastic achievement, and they have been a great group to mentor. We are all looking forward to hearing more about the final challenge, and I know Tom, Will, and Cam can’t wait to start developing their dishes.”

Team Radmoor will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of last year’s Loughborough College team, Eddie, Libby, and Jess who brought back two trophies in 2024 for sustainability and service.

The announcement of the UK Young Restaurant Team of the Year finalists gives Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Professional Cooking student Tom even more to celebrate, as he was also announced as a finalist in the Nestlé Professional Toque D’Or Competition in May.
