Students from across the Public Services department enjoyed resounding success at a recent visit to an exciting careers event hosted by the Security Institute, the UK's leading professional body for security professionals.

Lecturer Anthony Louch and Curriculum Manager Tim Turner accompanied a group of 25 students to the event where learners’ exemplary behaviour and enthusiastic participation throughout the day was praised by staff and other attendees.

Anthony shared, “The students were a credit to themselves and the College, demonstrating their dedication and professionalism. The invitation to this event shows the high regard in which our students are held within the security industry.”

Whilst at the event, learners had the unique opportunity to engage with top professionals from various security fields, including industrial espionage, intelligence and covert and uniformed security. One of the many highlights of the day was witnessing the impressive capabilities of security dogs in action, where students also got the opportunity to meet some new canine recruits.

The visit also provided an invaluable networking platform for our staff, fostering connections with industry experts eager to share their knowledge and insights about careers in the private security sector. This experience has significantly broadened our students' understanding of the diverse career opportunities available to them.

A special highlight of the day was the recognition of student Izzy Smith, who received an award for her outstanding professionalism in assisting staff during a particularly busy period. Presented by Deputy Lieutenant of Leicestershire, Colonel R. M. L. Colville TD DL, Izzy was commended on her hard work and dedication to her course and role.

Following on from the successful trip, The Security Institute has extended an open invitation for our students to attend all future events, reflecting the strong and positive impression they made. Curriculum Manager for Public Services, Tim Turner said, “We pride ourselves providing exceptional education and career opportunities to our students. It is fantastic to see our learners represent not only Public Services, but Loughborough College so positively and receive an open invite for future events.”
