Project EV Visit Inspires Electrical Installation Students for the Future

Posted: 20 hours ago

‘Powering homes and vehicles with smart energy’ was the message when Electrical Installation students were invited to step on board the Project EV demonstration lorry during its recent visit to Loughborough College.

Project EV is a unique electric vehicle charging platform based in the East Midlands that allows users to utilise public charging capabilities. Their mission is to work towards decarbonisation with renewable energy.

Over 60 learners comprising of first and second year JTL apprentices and full-time T Level students visited the lorry to hear from Project EV’s Brand Manager, Darrell Scott.

Darrell explained the workings of state-of-the-art electric vehicle chargers along with energy efficient, high performance infrared heating and air sourced hot water solutions.

Reflecting on the opportunity, T Level Electrical Installation student Henry Chadwick said: “It was a good learning experience. We got to ask questions, and learn more about aspects of the industry that we were specifically interested in. I found the information on AC and DC chargers really interesting.”

Students also learnt about solar energy and battery storage, plus the cost effective and environmental benefits of clean energy.

T Level learner Andreas Ntais added: “It was interesting to learn about upcoming projects and the future of the industry. Darrell was really knowledgeable and shared so much of his expertise.”
