A sports student from Loughborough College has smashed a decade-old record in the Men’s 200m Backstroke during the British Swimming Invitation.
Luke Greenbank, 24, a BSc (Hons) Applied Sports Science student, finished in a time of 1:55.34, shaving off 0.24 seconds from James Goddard’s long-standing record during the competition in Manchester on 16th March 2021.
He finished the race 5.30 seconds ahead of his nearest rival as Loughborough’s Elliott Clogg touched the wall in 2:00.64.
Luke’s classmate, Joe Litchfield, also enjoyed success in Manchester as he recorded a new personal best in the Men’s 100m Butterfly with a time of 52.86.
