National Careers Week 2025 – Upskill Your Careers Game

National Careers Week (NCW) is an annual celebration of careers guidance and support in education across the UK, running from Monday 3rd to Saturday 8th March this year.
To celebrate the week’s focus on employment and guidance, College Careers Advisor, Amanda Williamson shares her top tips on what questions you can ask to the Careers team both here at College and the Careers and Enterprise Hub to up your employment opportunities!
Before you get started, ask yourself ‘What is my perfect job?’
Do you know where you want your career to go? Or are you open to all sorts of opportunities? The BBC Bitesize careers quiz is a great place to get some inspiration! If you prefer face-to-face support, the Careers and Enterprise Hub in Loughborough Town Centre is the perfect place to find current opportunities. Make an appointment to see a careers adviser here!

What does a great CV and cover letter look like?
Students, staff, and members of the community can pick up a free CV Writing template from the Careers for support in starting or refreshing your CV and cover letter. Digital copies of all our resources are also available on request.
The Government’s National Careers Service also have fantastic, easy to follow resources that can help your application stand out in the crowd.
How do I prepare for an interview?
Interviews can be daunting, and not knowing what to expect can cause anxiety. Preparation is key for interviews, so do some research ahead of time to find out what type of interview it’s going to be, and who’s going to be there. Be sure to familiarise yourself with the job description and research the company online to get to know what sort of thing they’re looking for.
