They say the music industry is one of the toughest to break into - but Loughborough College students are set to get the inside track at a special industry insight event.

The College’s Higher Education Music Department has organised the Industry Day which will star an amazing range of speakers who will share their experience and expertise in everything from royalties and sound engineering to production and publishing.

The event, which is being held on 11th May via Microsoft Teams, is designed to give students a head start in gaining employment in the industry.

Matthew Toole, who heads the College’s music degree programmes, said: “We’re so pleased to have such an incredible line up of speakers who are willing to share their insights with our students and give them a competitive advantage when it comes to trying to break into the industry.

“This is the latest in a raft of enrichment opportunities for our learners and will provide them with the broadest insight of the industry from many different perspectives.”

The line-up of speakers is:

  • 9am–10am: Stuart Belsham, PRS for Music Outreach Manager
  • 10:30am–11:30am: Saman Mirab, Freelance Mastering & Engineer
  • 12:30pm–1:30pm: Darren Goodlad, Youth Programme Manager at the Nottinghamshire YMCA
