Former Motorsport Academy student Deagen Fairclough has joined the ranks of British racing champions, earning the 2024 ROKiT British F4 Championship at the iconic Silverstone national circuit.

Deagen, who drives with Hitech Pulse-Eight, has claimed 11 in-season race wins, making him the season’s provisional champion, and with five more races yet to go, he could be in line to set new records for the championship.

As a student on the Diploma in Sport Excellence (DiSE) qualification at the College, Deagen was a part of the Motorsport UK programme, a full time talent development pathway that equips the UK’s most promising young drivers with the knowledge, skills, and behaviours needed to maximise their performance. Other alumni from the Motorsport programme include F1 Academy drivers Chloe Grant, Abbi Pulling, and Jess Edgar.

Head of Elite Sport at Loughborough College, Matt O’Dowd said: “Deagen is the latest in the long line of College sports alumni who are making their mark on the global stage. His journey has been inspiring, and we’re proud to have played a small part in his success. He has a bright future ahead of him behind the wheel.”

In 2022, Deagen earnt a place with the ROKiT Rising Star E-Sports competition, which finds young sim drivers to race in a fully funded entry in the championship. In the last year, he has secured 15 Motul Fastest Lap titles, and following his most recent race, claimed a sixth C1RCUIT Watches Pole Position Award.

The British F4 Championship is a motorsport series launched in 2015 aimed at young drivers entering car racing. Previous winners of the championship includes current Singapore Grand Prix Pole position driver, Lando Norris.
