Loughborough College team one step closer to 106km Isle of Wight challenge to raise funds for local charities.

Posted: 27th February 2023 - 8:57am

Four staff members from Loughborough College, Tim Turner, Jesse Jackson, Emma Griffin, and Damien Wright, recently took part in a 17-kilometre training walk around Calke Abbey in preparation for a challenging fundraiser. Part of a wider team of nine, the group are gearing up to complete the Isle of Wight challenge on 29th April, which involves walking 106km around the island's coastal path.

The challenge is a broader initiative to raise money for charity, including Molly's Gift, PACE Loughborough, and MacMillan Cancer Research. The team is determined to make a difference in the community and actively seeks support to achieve its fundraising goals.

Jesse Jackson said, "We're incredibly grateful for the support we are receiving from Loughborough College. Two charities are based locally, and many community members have a personal connection with them. "

"Our colleagues, family and friends have been cheering us on every step of the way, and we're determined to make them proud by completing the challenge and raising as much money as possible for these worthy causes."

The group is currently in the process of finalising its fundraising efforts, with plans for another four training walks to take place between now and the main event.
