Former Loughborough College student Keely Hodgkinson retained her 800m indoor title in spectacular style earlier this week, finishing in 1minute 58.66 seconds, almost two seconds clear of the silver medallist.
The Olympic and world silver medallist who turned 21 on Friday, has had a remarkable season improving her own British 800m record in addition to setting a women's 600m world indoor record.
But Keely, who graduated with a Diploma in Sporting Excellence, has bigger prizes in her sights.
Slovenian runner Jolanda Ceplak's long-standing 800m world record of one minute 55.82 seconds was set on the day Keely was born in 2002 – perhaps a good luck omen for the Lancashire athlete.
Keely dedicated the win to her former coach Joseph Galvin, who died earlier this week.
