Empowering Excellence: Loughborough College EPNE Apprentices Shine at SSE's National Awards

In celebration of National Apprenticeship Week, SSE recently hosted its prestigious Apprenticeship Awards for England. Among over 350 SSE apprentices, our talented Year 3 EPNE apprentices stood out, garnering nominations in nearly every category. Notably, Kevin Devaney, who clinched the coveted Apprentice of the Year award.

SSE Apprentice of the Year: Kevin Devaney

Kevin Devaney, a standout member of our Electrical Power Network apprenticeship programme, embarked on this journey as part of SSE's inaugural cohort in 2021. Set to complete the apprenticeship this year, Kevin has consistently excelled, achieving distinctions across all units in the Higher National Certificates (HNC) curriculum. Despite the demanding schedule, Kevin actively engages in STEM outreach activities, inspiring students in schools.

Kevin embodies the spirit of excellence and dedication, serving as a stellar ambassador for his local apprenticeship partners, SSE and the broader STEM community. We're so pleased that Kevin has earnt this well-deserved recognition. Additionally, we applaud the remarkable achievements of our other nominees for Apprentice of the Year, Olly Webster and Andrew Chandler, who have also demonstrated exceptional talent and commitment on their apprenticeship journey.
