In Memoriam: Andi Peel

Posted: 13th January 2023 - 3:49pm

It is with deep sadness we mourn the passing of former Loughborough College student Andi Peel, aged 30.

Andi was diagnosed with a glioblastoma brain tumour in January 2020 and passed peacefully at home in Groby, Leicestershire this week.

Following his diagnosis, Andi, his family, and friends raised more than £18,000 for the UK charity Brain Tumour Research.

“Andi will be deeply missed by all who knew him” said lecturer Danny Lee.

“He was a kind and caring student at the college, who had time for everyone. He touched the lives of many and will be remembered fondly by all at Loughborough College”.

James Maudsley, Andi’s basketball coach continued: “I had the pleasure to spend a lot of time with him during practice and games, he was a true gentleman and an absolute pleasure to coach.

“He was always at practice, never complained or shied away from a challenge and could really shoot the ball. He and the team were very successful during his time here and Andi was a major contributor to our success.

“I’ll always remember Andi as a warrior both on and off the court, rest in peace #11.”

Principal and CEO, added: “We are all saddened to hear of Andi's passing. On behalf of all at Loughborough College, our heartfelt condolences go out to Andi’s family and everyone that knew him."
