Higher Education students have ranked their experience on degree level programmes at Loughborough College above the sector average in every single question asked in the latest National Student Survey (NSS).
Students were given 27 questions as part of the in-depth research by the Office for Students (OfS), with Loughborough College outperforming both the sector average and benchmark in all of these areas.
Learners highlighted the excellent teaching on their course, scoring an impressive 92.15%, 7.27% above the sector average.

The following scores combined to produce this theme:
- 95% of students said staff were good at explaining things
- 93% said that they were challenged to achieve their best work
- 91% said the course was intellectually stimulating
- 90% of students said staff make the subject engaging
Chris Cockerton, Dean of Higher Education at Loughborough College, added: “The latest NSS results are a testament to the hard work of our team and our student-centred approach. We’re thrilled to have been ranked so highly across all of the key areas outlined in the survey.”
“We are particularly pleased that Mental wellbeing services at the College were highlighted with a score of 92.5% versus a sector average of 75.4%. This follows the appointment last year of the College’s dedicated Higher Education Welfare Co-ordinator, who supports learners in a number of aspects during their studies.”
Other highlights from the survey show:
- 90% saying that their course has developed skills needed for their future(against a sector wide average of 81.7%)
- 93% of students said that staff were easy to contact (sector average 83%) and effectively supported their learning (89% against an average of 84%)
- 91% said that they have been given the opportunity to provide feedback on their course (sector average 80%)
The NSS gives students the opportunity to rank their higher education provider at the end of their education journey. Every university in the UK takes part in the survey, as do many colleges, in what is one of the largest of its kind in the world with more than 339,000 responses across the UK this year.
Loughborough College’s Higher Education Centre offers a range of undergraduate programmes in, Sport, Engineering and Sustainable Engineering, Management, Public Services and Early Years Education.
