Hairdressing and Barbering Lecturer Kerie Takes the Plunge for Charity
Wednesday 5th March 2025

Hairdressing and Barbering lecturer Kerie Mooney took fundraising to new heights last weekend, as she completed a charity skydive in support of the Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association (SSAFA).
Braving the skies from thousands of feet above ground, Kerie made the exhilarating jump, raising an impressive £500 for the charity, which provides lifelong support to serving and former members of the British Armed Forces and their families.
Speaking after the jump, Kerie said: “It was an absolutely incredible experience! It has always been on my bucket list and when the opportunity came, I literally jumped at the chance! The fact that it’s for a great cause is an added bonus. SSAFA does amazing work supporting our military community, and I’m proud to have contributed in my own way.”
SSAFA, the UK’s oldest tri-service military charity, has been providing vital assistance to service members and their families for over 135 years. The funds raised by Kerie will go towards ensuring they can continue their essential work, offering practical, financial, and emotional support to those in need.
Kerie is no stranger to fundraising challenges, having taken part in several events with the College’s Team 1909 charity arm throughout the year. Among her many efforts, she completed the gruelling 100km Peak District Ultramarathon to raise funds for charitable causes.
Donations are still coming in to the dedicated JustGiving page, set up by Mayor of Rushcliffe, Andrew Brown.
