Graduates Katherine Chattaway & Chloe Whiles Found Success Beyond Traditional Schooling

Posted: 9th February 2023 - 2:03pm

Sometimes school, college and study doesn’t come at us in a straight line. Life and events have a habit of shaping our journey. Katherine Chattaway left school early and didn’t complete her qualifications when she was pregnant at a young age.

Now Katie has completed her HND in Tourism Management and is studying for her degree.

“My education journey is not orthodox, but I always knew I could complete my studies. I have enjoyed the flexibility of studying at Loughborough College and am excited to be going to the next level and realise my career plans.”

And a traditional school education isn’t the route everyone wants to follow. Luckily nowadays, there are alternative choices. For example, Chloe Whiles started attending Loughborough College at 14 when she enrolled on Schools Link Programme – a part-time course that aims to bridge the gap between school learning and vocational training.

“I wanted to train, not just learn. Schools Link meant I could go to school and college part-time, and it gave me the opportunity to prepare for my chosen career in hospitality.”

Chole is graduating with a 2.1 Degree in Hospitality and Tourism and has just started working in her chosen career as cabin crew.

School Links Programme sees the College work closely with many local schools to offer students the chance to take part in vocational courses that they would not otherwise be able to access.
