Former Creative Arts student Ella Freer has made her TV debut as she competes in the newest series of the popular BBC make-up competition show, Glow Up.
Having joined the College in 2020, Ella credits her Art and Design course for sparking her interest in makeup artistry and developing her confidence. In a statement from the BBC, Ella said, “I often felt like an outside growing up, but experimenting with what was possible artistically and studying art and design helped me build my confidence.”
The series of Glow-Up will see aspiring artists show off their technical skills and talents on a series of professional assignments. The first task saw Ella and her competitors get a taste of Hollywood as they were tasked with creating looks for Haus Labs, the cosmetics brand founded by superstar Lady Gaga. In the most recent episode, Ella continued to wow judges Val Garland, Dominic Skinner, and Leomie Anderson, by creating an incredible zebra and lion hybrid look for the 'Opposites Attract' brief.
Art and Design Curriculum Manager at Loughborough College, Gary Stefanetti said, “It is fantastic to see our former student Ella take to our screens for this journey! We are all so excited to see her creativity flourish, and are looking forward to watching her progress throughout the competition.”
Learners from across the art and design department will also have a chance to speak to Ella about her career development later this year when she joins us for Creative Arts Week in June.
