Elspeth Hardy, a recent further education alumna of Loughborough College, has secured her dream job as a member of cabin crew with international airline, Ryanair, based at Stansted Airport.
Having enrolled on the Level 3 Travel and Aviation course in 2022, Elspeth also developed her skills through a specialised NCFE Introduction to Cabin Crew qualification, which she says has provided her with a solid foundation for her new role.
"When I was completing the online training, we covered a majority of what I learned last year, including survival methods, health conditions onboard, how aircraft fly, emergency procedures, and airport codes. Having already studied these topics made my exams feel like second nature."
Travel and Aviation at Loughborough College offers a unique blend of theoretical and hands-on learning, preparing students with essential industry knowledge. Combined with practical training in the College's fully equipped aircraft cabin simulator, Elspeth received invaluable, real-world experience.
Her lecturer, Deborah Spiers, who has over 36 years of experience in the travel and tourism industry, expressed her pride in Elspeth's success, sharing, "It is so rewarding to know that I have been part of Elspeth's journey and her success in gaining her dream role.
“We are very fortunate to have a real aircraft cabin and equipment that allows us to give students practical and engaging learning experiences. I feel extremely privileged to have shared my knowledge with Elspeth and wish her every success in her new role!"
