Loughborough College has praised “determined” GCSE students after sitting the first in-person exams for two years and achieving some excellent results.
For many students, GCSEs were their first-ever exams after two years of ‘teacher assessed grades’ which were put in place as part of Covid-19 pandemic precautions.
The College recorded an overall 92% pass rate for GCSE English and Maths, with 27% of all students scoring the highest grades, 9-4, in English with 21% scoring the highest grades in Maths – in line with the resit national average.
, Principal & CEO of Loughborough College, said: “Our students never fail to impress me with their maturity, diligence and determination. Despite the disruption of a pandemic, they’ve shown extraordinary strength of character yet again and have achieved some excellent results in what, for many, were their first-ever real-world examinations.
“As a college, we are so proud of all of our fantastic learners who have worked incredibly hard, overcome personal challenges and shown extraordinary resilience and a burning passion to unlock their potential and pursue their dream careers.
“Their stories and their successes are a constant inspiration to our staff and reminds us of exactly why we work in the FE sector - to teach and support people to achieve their ambitions.”
