Loughborough College’s resilient students have been praised for their achievements and endeavour in A level and vocational qualifications despite the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Students have earned places at a wide range of universities including Oxford, Imperial College London, Liverpool and Warwick to study everything from law, accounting and veterinary medicine to elite sport and policing.
For example, Finley Hewitt, 18, of Birstall, achieved three A stars to secure his place at Oxford University where he will study law.
Finance whizz Shivani Sud, 18, of Loughborough, also secured three A stars and will go on to Loughborough University to study accounting and finance.
And England under 20s women’s rugby star Fran Goldthorp will go on to study elite sport at Loughborough University after she achieved three distinctions as part of her BTEC Sport Level 3.
This year, following the cancellation of exams, grades were awarded through a process of teacher assessed grades, against a national standard and approved and awarded by the exam boards.
, Principal & CEO at Loughborough College, said: “We are immensely proud of all the work and achievements of our brilliant students. They have been so resilient, worked so hard, through an unbelievably challenging and disrupted year, with such diligence and patience.
“The results they have received through Teacher Assessed Grades are a true reflection of the effort they have put into their studies.
“I’m also incredibly proud of our staff who have worked tirelessly to ensure students have been able to progress onto higher education and employment. We look forward to seeing what they will achieve in the future.”
