Award-Winning Film Series Featuring College Staff Shines at New York City Ceremony
Monday 3rd March 2025
We are celebrating the latest success of staff-produced movie Wheel Gone Kid 4 – Crash Course, which has won Best Web Series at The North Film Festival in New York City, the only film from the UK to win an award.
The film had its worldwide premiere earlier in the week at the prestigious festival, held at The Producers Club just off Times Square.
Produced by Supervisory Technician Keith Large, and starring familiar faces from across College, Joanne Wells and Gary Dearman, the latest instalment of the Wheel Gone Kid has earnt international recognition, and put Loughborough College on the map.
Adding to the celebrations, the film’s young star, 10-year-old Reece Jagpal-Mohan, was given the prestigious honour of cutting the ribbon to officially open the festival. This moment mirrored the previous success of Wheel Gone Kid Three and a Half – Plane Stupid, which was also filmed at Loughborough College and was chosen as the opening film for the festival’s Ribbon Cutting Ceremony. This instalment features another College staff member, Electrical Installation lecturer, Umair Syed.
The Wheel Gone Kid series has been on an impressive run, with previous entries receiving critical acclaim. Wheel Gone Kid 2 won Best Series at the Love and Hope International Film Festival in Barcelona, with Wheel Gone Kid 4 continuing the series success.
Keith Large, the film’s producer and Supervisory Technician at the College, expressed his excitement about the win, saying: “It’s an incredible achievement to have our work recognised internationally. The involvement of our College staff has been a fantastic experience, and it’s great to see our team contributing to something so well-received on a global scale.”
The film also features footballing legend Neil Warnock who brought star power to campus when he filmed his scenes on site at the College late last year.
