Exceptional students helped Loughborough College sweep to victory in a range of sports during a major regional tournament.
The College’s Women’s Volleyball Academy and the Women’s Rugby Academy 7s were crowned East Midlands Champions and will represent the region in the Association of Colleges Sport national finals next April.
They will be joined by Luke Hoult (BTEC Extended Diploma in Sports Coaching & Development) who was crowned East Midlands Badminton champion. Students Leo Grady, Mitesh Chauhan & Catlin Skelly also qualified to represent the region in the AoC Sport Nationals.
And Luke Talbot (BTEC Level 3 Foundation in Sport and Exercise Sciences) qualified for the East Midlands squad for the AoC Nationals in Cross Country after finishing third overall in the regional competition.
Danny Lee, Curriculum Manager for FE Sport at Loughborough College, said: “We’re so proud of all the students who represented the College with such skill and determination in the regional heats. They will do the region proud when they represent the East Midlands in the national finals in April.
“We have been nicknamed the Talent Factory for developing sporting talent and I think this latest round of performances underlines that reputation.”
The College’s first-ever Pan Disability Football Team clinched the East Midlands championship on 3rd November and will represent the region at the nationals.
It was the first time the College had entered a team into the pan disability tournament, just a year after becoming a recognised Inclusion Hub college which champions and provides for disabled sports.
On the same day, the Women’s Football Academy became East Midlands Champions and will also represent the region in the AoC National Championships next year.
