The TAQA Level 4 IQA Award is a nationally recognised qualification designed
for individuals who work within an internal quality assurance role. The
qualification provides recognition for the knowledge and practical ability in
internal quality assurance and assessment processes and is relevant to a variety
of sectors.
It replaces the V1 and D34 qualifications and incorporates the full range of
activity involved in internal quality assurance and supports Awarding
Organisation rules and regulations.
This is an ‘in service’ award and candidates must be in an IQA role (by
contract or placement) in order to complete the process.

Course Content
Introduction to the award and the assessment requirements
Plan, operate and evaluate internal assessment and quality assurance
systems
Support and develop assessors
Monitor and improve the quality of assessment practice
Apply policies, procedures and legislation to meet external/regulatory
requirements
Record and process IQA decisions and activities
Observation of IQA and feedback skills in the workplace
Building a portfolio of evidence
The programme is flexible and includes a blend of tutorials, independent
study, written work, gathering of evidence, observation of IQA practice and
portfolio building.
Entry Requirements
Candidates for this qualification must:
Have been working in an active role as a qualified assessor for at least
12 months
Have access to an appropriate IQA role in an assessment centre
Have access to at least 2 assessors who can be monitored and
supported
Have access to a qualified IQA for countersigning
Have occupational competency in the qualification they are quality
assuring.
Progression
Qualified TAQA practitioners who also teach and do not already possess a formal teaching qualification could progress to the College's CET or DET programmes (Certificate or Diploma in Education and Training) if a teaching role has been secured and entry requirements have been fulfilled.
