The Pearson BTEC Level 4 Higher National Certificate (HNC) in Engineering for England (HTQ) has been developed in collaboration with employers, professional bodies, and higher education providers to develop students as professional, self-reflecting individuals able to meet the demands of employers in the engineering sector.
This Higher National Certificate offers a comprehensive curriculum that combines theoretical understanding with practical applications, ensuring that graduates are well-prepared to meet the demands of today's technologically advanced industries.
This dynamic and industry-focused qualification is designed to lay the foundations to equip you with the introductory knowledge, skills and behaviours that all engineers require - irrespective of future specialism.
This course covers a comprehensive range of subjects, ensuring students gain a strong grasp of the underpinning principles that support a successful career in engineering. Our highly experienced industry experts and academics will guide you through your learning, including lectures, seminars, online activities, practical activities, laboratory skills, peer-group learning and independent study.
You will be involved in vocational activities that help you to develop behaviours (the attitudes and approaches required for competence) and transferable skills. Transferable skills are communication, teamwork, research and analysis, which are highly valued in higher education and the workplace. You will undertake various assessments, including professional discussions, practicals, essays, reports and presentations.
This Level 4 course lays the foundation of learning by providing a broad introduction to the engineering sector. This develops and strengthens core skills while preparing students for more specialist subjects at Level 5, where students can progress to an HND in Engineering for England (HTQ) or enter employment with the qualities necessary for job roles that require some personal responsibility.
