The programme is run in collaboration with Motorsport UK, the National Governing Body for four wheel motorsport.
It is a full time talent development pathway programme that equips the UK's most promising young drivers with the knowledge, skills and behaviours needed to maximise their performance.
The programme runs from September to July each year. Drivers attend sessions for two weeks per month. In addition, organised activity includes iZone simulators, coach reviews and observations outside of contact days in Loughborough.
The Diploma in Sporting Excellence programme, governed by Sport England, is delivered to performance athletes selected by their National Sporting Governing Body to enter their Player Pathway in order to help them progress on their journey towards reaching their athletic potential.
The programme model provides drivers with the flexibility to gain valuable work experience within motorsport, and to enable opportunity to develop as a driver.
There are four qualifications within the two year course including:
Pearson BTEC Level 3 Extended Certificate in Sporting Excellent and Performance
Pearson L3 Extended Certificate in eSports
Diploma in Sporting Excellence
Pearson BTEC Level 2 Extended Certificate in Vehicle Technology
The blend of qualifications provide learning in key subjects that combined help drivers to progress – both in their sport and in to related employment and further/higher education.
The programme is delivered by Loughborough College and Motorsport UK staff.
