eVisas
From January 2025 UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) will use a new e-visas system. This will make getting your visa easier and faster in future. Find out more using the links below, and watch the following video.
Right to Study Check Process
The Right to Study Check is a two-part process for all students who are non-British nationals and/or have not resided in the UK for at least 3 years prior to commencing studies. It is your responsibility to ensure that you have the correct type of immigration permission (visa) with which to study for the full duration of your course. Failure to provide evidence of the correct type of immigration permission could result in you being withdrawn from your course.
Process - Part 1
The first part of the Right to Study check is integrated into our Admissions process. After you have accepted your offer, you will receive an email inviting you to upload a scan of your passport and visa. If you do not have one or are unsure of what we are asking for, please refer to the above video for guidance. Providing us with this evidence helps us to assess your Right to Study at Loughborough College.
If you still hold an in-date BRP Card (British Residency Permit), please can you upload a scan of this, you may have one if your currently residency status is BNO, Refugee, Tier 2 Skilled Workers or Leave to Remain amongst others. Should this be nearing expiry/expired please visit the UKVI website to update your documents. For EU Nationals, we will require a Share Code to show your immigration status. Please ensure you send the correct code, do not send a right to work share code, as this will result in delays in your Application/Enrolment process.
Once we have the required documentation, we will complete your Right to Study checklist which will activate your student record for Registration.
Process - Part 2
The second part of the Right to Study process happens at Registration & Enrolment stage. The documents you need to provide will differ depending on your immigration status and type of visa you have, highlighted below is detailed information on each type.
For students joining us who already reside in the UK, you will be asked to provide evidence of your current residency permissions.
If you already have a BRP card for an immigration category that permits study (e.g. dependant, skilled worker), you must e-mail a scan of the following to the Loughborough College Enrolment Team with the subject line 'Right to Study check':
- The biometric page of your passport (this is the page with your personal information and photo)
- The front and back of your BRP card
If you password protect any document scans that you send us, you must e-mail from your College email address and use your Loughborough College student ID as your password.
If you have already provided this information through part 1 of the Right to Study process and your visa is still valid you do not need to provide these documents to us again.
What happens next
We will check your documents and reply to your e-mail to either confirm that you have completed Right to Study check or to advise you of additional information that is needed.
Digital Immigration Status
If you have digital visa status such as BNO visa or skilled worker visa, you need to obtain a share code from the UKVI website and email it to Loughborough College Enrolment Team along with your student ID number and your date of birth. Once we have obtained your share code, we can verify your immigration status online and update your student record with your visa information.
