FREQUENTLYASKED QUESTIONS

Here are some of the most frequently asked questions that we receive, if you have a question that isn’t answered here please get in touch.

Stars icon

What is a Pre-Programme event?

This taster event is your opportunity to come into College and spend some time with your College tutors and prospective classmates before you start in September. Each subject area does their event differently, but you can expect to be involved in activities relating to your chosen course.

What happens if I can't attend?

Just let us know! We will update your record and will tell your tutors. We will then invite you to your Registration and Enrolment day. Dates will be sent to you in due course.

Stars icon

I want to come with both of my Parents/Guardians is this ok?

This event is only aimed at applicants, and not their Parents/Guardians or friends. It is aimed at giving you a real experience of what it means to be a student in the area you are applying to, which is why we take this approach. You will be fine. However if you have any concerns please contact us and we will be happy to raise this further on your behalf with any required support service. Contact us at eventreply@loucoll.ac.uk and we will be happy to help.

My friends’ event is on another day, can I go with them?

Unfortunately not! You must only attend the event you have been invited to, as this will be the course you have chosen to apply for. If your friend is invited on another day it is because they have chosen to apply for a different course. If you’ve changed your mind about what you’d like to study please contact us at eventreply@loucoll.ac.uk

What should I do if I want to change my course after I’ve been to my Pre programme event?

Over the last few years the College has been over subscribed and has had to run waiting lists for several course areas. If you think that you might want to change your mind at this stage contact the Student Recruitment team on 01509 618375 or at eventreply@loucoll.ac.uk and they will look at any course options that may still be available to you at this time.

What happens after I have been for my Pre-programme event?

Next you will be invited to complete your Registration to College, likely in early August. After that, your Course Sign up meeting will take place on or after GCSE results day on Thursday 21st August 2025. We will send further details on these stages over the coming weeks.
