Winning workshops: brand new football coaching development sessions

Posted: 11th February 2022 - 9:12am

Loughborough College, in partnership with Loughborough Lightning, is leading a programme to inspire, discuss and develop coaching skills within the county.

The Female Football Coach Development programme aims to enhance networking and evolve the female game to ensure that talent can be maximised to its full potential.

The programme includes a breadth of information and offers free tuition to those already in women’s coaching or anyone who would like to be.

Joe Jowett, Women’s Football/Sport Development Officer and programme leader from Loughborough College said: “Due to the fall in coaching development workshops since Covid-19, we are passionate to connect coaches within the surrounding areas and clubs to learn and share new techniques and ideas.

“The sessions have been designed to upskill and educate coaches on aspects that they may not have thought about before.

“It will be an enlightening experience for coaches as there will be a huge emphasis on individual strengths and using these to be the best coach they can be.”

The workshops will run once a month to enable coaches to take what they learn and put it into practice, before returning and sharing their experiences including highlights and areas for improvement.

The programme begins on Wednesday 16th February 2022 with guest speaker and former military sergeant Chris Abel, who will be delivering a workshop on effective communication.

This workshop will focus on the ways in which coaches communicate with their players, the importance of good communication and the types of communication that get the most out of their players.
