Loughborough College welcomed back one of its alumni, Remi Flannigan, who now works as a cabin crew member for British Airways. Remi returned to the classroom to share her journey from a student at the College to soaring through the skies with one of the world’s leading airlines.
Speaking to a room of Travel and Tourism students, Remi recounted her path to a fulfilling career in aviation, emphasising the importance of resilience, determination, and continuous learning.
Remi also gave students a glimpse into her day-to-day responsibilities, which range from ensuring passenger safety to delivering excellent customer service. Her presentation provided students with valuable insights into the life of a cabin crew member.
This guest talk is part of the College’s ongoing commitment to connect students with industry professionals and real-world experiences through its alumni programme. Remi’s visit provided students with the unique opportunity to hear first-hand what it takes to succeed in the travel and aviation industry.
Deborah Spiers, a Travel and Tourism lecturer at Loughborough College with more than 35 years in the industry expressed her pride in seeing former students like Remi return to share their experiences. “Remi’s journey is a testament to the hard work and dedication we see in our students every day,” Deborah said. “Having her come back to share her story, inspire our students, and show them that their ambitions are within reach, we couldn’t be prouder of her accomplishments.”
The inspiring session left students feeling motivated and excited about the possibilities that lie ahead in their careers. Current learner Archie Maydew-Lester shared: “It was really helpful and informative having an industry expert come into class and talk about the role of cabin crew. It has helped me figure out my future career prospects and what I need to do to achieve them.”
