As part of a series of Electrical Installation talks, T-Level Construction learners had the chance to hear from Lee Baker, Territory Sales Manager of Megger, a global leader in Electrical test and measurement instruments.
Lee enthused the longevity of a career in the electrical industry and the variety of avenues available through wind, solar, and battery powered electricity.
Whilst speaking with the students, Lee also shared the significance of key electrical regulations, and stressed the importance of working safely with electricity and demonstrated the latest Megger products that provide safe solutions when carrying out live testing.
Their state-of-the-art range includes thermal image cameras, PAT Testers, electric vehicles charging stations, and many more. Paul Scott, who lectures on the T-Level Electrical course said, “I was very impressed by how Megger’s thermal image camera can check emissivity radiated from a material’s surface. It’s a great tool for for learners calculating heat energy in their sustainability modules.”
Reece Whittaker, a second year JTL Electrical apprentice was most impressed that Lee delivered the most up to date information, “I found Lee’s talk very helpful, especially as so many apprentices now working on new build homes that require more modern installs such as electric vehicle charging adaptors. Lee gave us the knowledge and insight to develop the right tools for the job.”
Lee’s visit part of a series of talks designed to equip Electrical Installation learners and apprentices with important advice and knowledge. It was organised by the Loughborough branch of City Electrical Factors who recently supported our learners with a manufacturers event at Loughborough College and a trip to CEF Live.
