Two successful alumnae of the College’s Travel and Tourism programme recently returned to campus to share their career journeys and inspire current Level 3 students. Larissa King and Prem Sharma, who have both developed successful careers in the travel and aviation industries, spoke about their experiences, journeys to the travel sector, and the value of their education.
Larissa studied with the College from 2020 until 2022 and is now working with the Leicestershire-based travel agency Millington. Speaking to learners, she emphasised the importance of adaptability in the world of travel and shared how her path from Loughborough College to working in the travel industry has equipped her with practical skills and customer service expertise.
Prem gained her Level 3 diploma in 2023 and now works in customer service at East Midlands Airport. Speaking about her role, she highlighted the importance of communication, patience, and problem-solving skills when dealing with passengers. She encouraged students to embrace every opportunity, sharing how customer-facing roles can offer a variety of career development paths.
Lecturer of Travel and Aviation at Loughborough College, Paul Mann-Kler reflected: “It was a joy to welcome Larissa and Prem back to campus! Their visit left students feeling motivated and inspired, offering a real-world glimpse into the diverse career opportunities available in the travel and tourism industry. Their advice and stories provided current learners with valuable insights into what lies ahead after completing their studies.”
