Students Sharpen Their Styles Ahead of National Competitions

Posted: 3rd February 2022 - 5:08pm

Loughborough College’s student hairdressers and barbers were put to the test during an in-house contest in a bid to become a cut above the rest in national contests later this year.

Students were tasked with creating masterpieces in four different categories including blow-dry, hair-up, men’s cut and fantasy.

It enabled students to test their ability, creativity and to showcase their diverse skills whilst adhering to the rules set by the Association of Hairdressing and Therapists, in preparation for the regional heats next month at Stamford College.

Karen Driscoll, Hair and Beauty Practitioner at Loughborough College, said: “The students across all Level 2 and Level 3 worked professionally and exhibited skills they have acquired since joining the course.

“The creativity and skills demonstrated throughout the competition highlighted their vast ability, personal growth and tenacity.

“I’m so proud of all of our students and I’m excited to see what the regional heat brings.”

The categories were judged by staff, and students were appointed 1st, 2nd or 3rd place in each category.

The winners will progress to the regional heat against other Midland’s Colleges to be in with a chance of competing in the big finale in Blackpool in May.
