Nearly 100 Loughborough College athletes are aiming for national glory in the AoC Sport National Championships in Nottingham.
Now entering its 42nd year, the AoC Sport National Championships are a celebration of competitive sport in FE colleges, providing recognition, enjoyment and a unique opportunity for students to compete across 13 different sports.
The College is taking 86 students (the largest cohort of any East Midlands college) who won their regional heats.
Danny Lee, the College’s Curriculum Manager for FE Sport, said: “We are so proud to have so many of our learners competing on the national stage in the AoC Sport National Championships.
“They have already done incredibly well to win the regional heats and qualify for the largest annual student sporting event in Europe. Our athletes will be competing in nine different sports and we wish them all the very best of luck.”
The Loughborough team will join nearly 2,000 college students from throughout the UK who won regional tournaments to qualify.
The College will compete in Tennis, Badminton & Cross Country after qualifying in the regional individual sport events. With the following team sports representing the East Midlands as Regional Champions in Women’s Volleyball, Pan Disability Football, Women’s Rugby, Men’s Football, Cricket and Women’s Football.
