Degree level alumni Isam Belmoudden was surprised at his local grassroots football club in London by Tottenham Hotspur star Pedro Porro, who awarded the graduate with a Student of the Year Award.
Isam, who graduated from his BSc Sports Coaching degree at the College last year now works as a coach for grassroots club Estudiantes. He was presented with the club’s ‘Student of the Year’ trophy to recognise his achievements in graduating from the College and move into football coaching.
Head of Higher Education at Loughborough College, Nick Ashley said: “Isam is a fantastic example of hard work and determination. He has been an excellent student and is a role model for anyone aspiring to a career in sport. We are so pleased to see him win this award and we wish him the best for his continued success.”
Isam’s journey has been supported by the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation’s Spurred 2 Coach programme, which helps young people get into coaching.
Speaking at the presentation, Isam said: “I am still in shock! This is a very special moment for me. I am just going about my job so to be recognised in this way means all my hard work has paid off.”
Taken over three years, the BSc Sports Coaching degree at Loughborough College aims to prepare students for careers in coaching, support, management, and teaching. The qualification combines practical coaching with academic theory, allowing learners to reflect on and develop their coaching practice.
