The NFL Academy, a partnership between the NFL, Loughborough College and Loughborough University, are travelling to Munich this weekend as part of this season’s first international fixture.

The 45-man travelling squad will arrive in the Bavarian capital ahead of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Seattle Seahawks match-up and will play an NFL Academy fixture against The Bavarian Warriors.

The NFL Academy, established in 2019, aims to provide young athletes with a route into NCAA college football, US university life, and ultimately a chance at making the NFL draft.

Alison Wyeth, Director of the NFL Academy, said: “For our NFL Academy team to be involved in an historic moment for the NFL is fantastic. The players will get to see the organisation which surrounds the NFL, the focus and professionalism of the clubs and the players, and the passion of the growing global fan base.”

Loughborough College’s Principal and CEO, , is excited to watch the NFL Academy having travelled to Munich. As a huge fan of the sport, Jo said: “It’s fantastic that we have secured international fixtures this season as it is a great opportunity for the NFL Academy to showcase their talent in front of a huge audience.

“The team have been working hard in their training sessions and refining techniques to be on top form this weekend. It’s going to be a great game and I wish them the best of luck.”

NFL Academy Head Coach, Tony Allen, added: “The NFL Academy shares the same ambitions as the NFL – to play high quality sport, to develop character amongst its players and team members, and to be a positive force in our communities.”

Dominic Braesch, NFL Academy member and German national, is thrilled to be travelling to Munich and said: “The opportunity to be travelling as part of this first NFL fixture in Germany is unbelievable. From watching NFL games on TV at home in Lübeck to being part of the experience is a dream come true.

“The NFL Academy is helping us prepare for a future playing American Football and that means being prepared physically and mentally for these big moments.

“As well as playing a really competitive game against our German counterparts, we will also get to witness and learn about the whole organisation around being part of the NFL.

“I’m excited to be travelling and grateful to the NFL Academy for providing this opportunity.”

The NFL Academy play against the The Bavarian Warriors on Saturday 12th November.
