New Chair of Governors, Stephen Smith

Stephen Smith has been appointed as the new Chair of Governors at Loughborough College, taking over from Stuart Lindeman who is stepping down after eight fantastic years with the college.

Stephen brings with him significant knowledge of skills both as an employer and with providers, most notably as the previous Chair of Governing Council at the University of Derby.

Stephen’s career spans brand marketing and general management in both large and small companies, as well as several non-executive roles in skills and economic development.

On his appointment, he said: “I’m very passionate about education as I’m a big believer that skills and qualifications are a key enabler for people to achieve their life goals, as well as helping companies perform well and be successful.

“Everyone should have access to an education that suits their needs and ambitions and I was very impressed by Loughborough College’s ethos and commitment to its students.

“In my role as Chair, I’m looking forward to the opportunity to make a contribution to the College’s fantastic reputation of being a professional, ambitious and supportive college.”

In a farewell speech, Stuart Lindeman described his time as Governor as ‘an absolute pleasure’, noting the lifechanging work the College does to shape futures and enhance the prospects of the young people it serves.

Corrie Harris, Principal and CEO, thanked Stuart for his tremendous contribution to Loughborough College and wished him well with his future endeavours. Corrie is very much looking forward to working with Stephen to move into the next phase of the College’s outstanding journey.
