Students and staff from across the College marked last week's Mental Health Awareness week with a Mental Health and Wellbeing Fair.
The College’s Welfare and Development team hosted the Covid-secure event to raise awareness of local support on a range of issues.
Drop-in and 1:1 sessions for staff and students were held by local charities and organisations. Partners involved in the event were:
- LGBTQ+ expert Lisa Vine: www.lisavine.com
- The Bridge, a local housing charity: www.thebridge-eastmidlands.org.uk
- Living Without Abuse: https://lwa.org.uk
- The county’s Sexual Health advice team: https://leicestersexualhealth.nhs.uk
- Leicestershire Police’s Substance Misuse Team www.leics.police.uk
- The Tomorrow Project www.tomorrowproject.org.uk
As well as the on-campus events, the team also pulled together a range of resources to support people, including:
- daily ‘exercise’ videos to teach you how to meditate and bring balance to your life;
- video resources explaining how the College supports staff and students;
- a mental health roundtable discussion, hosted by our sports department
The mental health and wellbeing of the College community is our top priority and, especially in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, it is more important than ever that people are aware of the support and resources available.
