Creative hairdressing and barbering students from Loughborough College have made their mark on the national stage.
Rushda Nizamdeen, 39, of Leicester, a Level 3 Hairdressing student won silver in the UK and Ireland Grand Final of the Association of Hairdressers and Therapists (AHT) Fantasy Style Competition.
Two other students were highly placed in the finals. Charli Flower, a Level 3 Barbering student finished fifth out of 17 in the finals of the Men’s Creative Cutting Competition and Max Wilson, a Level 2 Barbering student, came sixth out of 19 in the Men’s Barbering Competition.
Claire Spingthorpe, Curriculum Manager for Hair and Beauty at Loughborough College, said: “We’re extremely proud of our students. Being skilled enough to compete on the national stage is an incredible achievement in itself, but to perform so well and finish so highly is exceptional.
“It has been particularly rewarding and exciting to see Rushda’s skill and confidence develop over the last couple of years. Her creativity and finesse have exploded and her performances against some of the best up and coming stylists in the country has been inspirational – especially considering she juggles a busy family life with her studies.”
