With a record number of nominations and lengthy discussions between the staff forum, it was finally time to reveal the winners of Loughborough College’s RISE Awards 2023.
There were 14 prizes up for grabs for individuals and teams, after a staggering 179 teaching and support staff were nominated for an accolade. The event showcased a luxury black, gold and silver theme, with media professional, Ian Stringer, hosting the event and entertaining the audience with his active games including heads and tails and stand-up bingo.
An award-winning and exquisite menu, including canapes, was served by the Loughborough College Hospitality and Catering team, and enjoyed by all staff who had consistent feedback saying, “you can’t beat Darren’s risotto.”
The ceremony was formally opened by CEO and Principal of Loughborough College, , who highlighted the astounding number of votes and paid tribute to staff who hadn’t received a nomination stating: “Congratulations to all nominated, tonight we’re celebrating individuals and team successes. Our values are at the heart of all we do, and we’ve had a record number of nominees; all the work you do matters. On behalf of the Executive team, thank you for all your work.”
The awards were presented by various staff at Loughborough College, each taking a category – Respectful, Innovative, Successful, Empowerment.
The RISE Awards 2023 winners were;
Team winners: Learning Support, HE Engineering, Hospitality and Travel, Games, Media and Digital
Business Support winners: Patricia Henry, Chris Manton, Dominic Moore, Chris Hawkins
Curriculum winners: Umair Syed, Sarah Rudge, Adam Swinfield, David Wappat, Jesse Jackson
Principal’s Awards: Jeff Tideswell, Dannii Donovan, Kiera Hand, Otis, and the Management Information Systems (MIS) team.
Chair of Governors, Stuart Lindeman closed the event and emphasised on the fantastic feedback he has received from students about the staff.
Stuart commented, “What an evening! It’s completely blown me away by the stories I’ve heard. There’s absolutely no doubt you’re all amazing. The work you do and the results you deliver make a huge difference to the careers and prospects of our young people. It’s absolutely life changing. A massive thank you to everyone involved this evening in organising this event!”
