Student satisfaction with higher education at Loughborough College now rivals some of the country’s top universities, new data has revealed.
The National Student Survey 2022 showed ‘overall satisfaction with the quality of courses’ at the College’s Higher Education Centre is 84.4% - 6% higher than the sector benchmark.
Students were asked 27 questions as part of the in-depth research by the Office for Students (OfS), with Loughborough College outperforming the national benchmark in 25 areas. The College was also the highest rated higher education provider in the East Midlands.
Chris Cockerton, Dean of Higher Education at the College, said: “We’re absolutely delighted with the latest NSS results and, for the second year in a row, we have achieved scores which are well above the national benchmark for student satisfaction.
“I think it’s a fantastic reflection of the student-centred approach we take and the dedication of our teaching staff who work so hard to keep students engaged and supported and our commitment to creating the best possible student experience.
“The impacts of the pandemic are, without question, still being felt by young people and I am so proud of our team for putting in place the high quality education, nurture and support which has led to these outstanding results.”
Loughborough College’s Higher Education Centre offers a range of undergraduate programmes in, Sport, Engineering and Sustainable Engineering, Management, Music, Public Services, Early Years Education and Teacher Training.
It also offers Degree Apprenticeships, degree programmes via Blended Learning and Professional programmes as part of its varied offer.
The results of the National Student Survey helps to:
- inform prospective students’ choices;
- provide data that supports universities and colleges to improve the student experience;
- support public accountability.
Every university in the UK takes part in the survey, as do many colleges, in what is one of the largest of its kind in the world with almost 325,000 responses across the UK this year.
